Founder, Artistic Director
Kristen McGrew was fortunate to have received her early training in Tennessee under master teachers such as the world renowned Anna-Marie Holmes. She has danced with professional companies Eglevsky Ballet, Charleston Ballet Theater, Bravo! Dance, Tennessee Festival Ballet and Ballet Theater of Pennsylvania. Ms. McGrew has worked as a guest artist thoughought the Eastern U.S. and performed across the country dancing principal roles in the classics and world premieres serving as inspiration for many roles that were created specifically for her. Her resume includes classical, contemporary and modern works.
Ms. McGrew was the Ballet Mistress for The Eglevsky Ballet for ten years under the Directorship of Ali Pourfarrokh before becoming the Artistic Director of Nomad Contemporary Ballet. She currently teaches for Professional Performing Arts School and the Junior Division at The Ailey School and for American Theater Dance Workshop, Nomad's official NY school.
Melissa Bartucci left California behind to train at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. She guested with various dance companies including Ballet West before becoming a Principal Dancer with Eglevsky Ballet under the direction of Jane Miller Gifford. Melissa retired from active dancing to raise a family, picked up a camera and became a rockstar Dance Photographer. Melissa is an invaluable resource in rehearsals as well as the administration of the company. She serves as Coach and Rehearsal Mistress.
Choreographer in Residence
Adrienne Hurd is a native New Yorker. She studied at the Joffrey Ballet School, the School of American Ballet and the The Ailey School on Fellowship. She danced with the Neubert Ballet, Ailey II, and the Jamison Project. She was Ms. Jamison's assistant for the early works. Adrienne has worked with Alvin Ailey, Judith Jamison, Michael Peters, Paula Abdul, Twyla Tharp, Garth Fagan, Donald McKayle, Graciela Daniele, Jeff Calhoun, Hans von Manon, Vince Patterson, Early Mosley, and Dance Brazil. She has appeared in numerous Broadway shows and commercials. Adrienne and her husband Lutin Tanner are choreographers for The Middle Collegiate Arts Ministry. She has taught at the University of Minnesota, St Petersburg Dance festival, Dance New Amsterdam, and The Ailey School.
